I tried Ubuntu 11.10 from CD. Even the notorious envy touchpad seemed to 
be fine this time!

Should I just innstall Ubuntu as a second OS? Nothing special?

only two issue that I have not been able to resolve:
1) Battery: The reporting is strange and I _think_ that the second
battery is not getting used -- when the first battery is depleted, the

2) HDMI-VGA adapter: At least as of 11.04 it was not recognized. Haven't
checked with 11.10 yet.

With the exclusion of the battery, I would say its working great.
