I predict we'll have something very interesting to talk about one week from
now... if all goes to plan.

Just the other day, I heard a version of Sliver (live) on one of my =

friend's mix tapes. During the first verse, Kurt laughes, and=20
throughout the song, he varies his voice from screaming to low and=20
subtle. If anyone knows what the hell I'm talking about, help me out,=20
and let me know when that was played, and if it's on any CD I can buy. =20
Thanks.

That version of sliver is from the Reading Festival, August 30, 1992. =
I'm not sure what cd its on, but there are tapes of it floating around. =
Be warned: There are two versions of Reading '92, a cut version and a =
full version.

Reading 92 (most common CD is "Dumb" though it's on others). My
favorite sliver! That reminds me - I saw a double CD at one of those
online shops (CD-GOLD if you're interested) called "Complete Reading 92"
or something like that. Anybody know if this is soundboard?

I feel stupid for saying that RFUS was techno. I just listened to it REAL
closely . . .and It was guitar. Sorry people if I offended you. I'm going
to go shoot myself in the head now. . . .

Okay, I checked my tape that I made off of the radio LIVE, and it was
April 4th, 1994, Atlanta, Georgia, a Sunday night. "This song's for
Kurt." Then right into "Go."
Since someone else quoted it differently, it makes sense that they
probably dedicated it to him more than once in March and April. He had
just OD-ed.
Don't go on me... well, a dedication after he's gone is a little late.
Anyway, I remember it so well since that week was embedded in my memory
forever.

Well, I suppose it's time to post again. I fell behind, not reading any
digests during summer. anyway, around Jan. or so this year, I found out
from this guy who owns a record store that NIRVANA played Calgary March 4,
1990. I got the poster for it from my local bootleg store (who charge rip
off prices I soon found out). Anyway, I've never seen this date on any of
the concert chronology listings on the 'net. Anybody hear about this
show?? I have'nt seen the guy since then(he sold his stroe), so I didn't
get a chance to see if he happened to tape the show or know someone who
did. anyway, there's my post.

That is actually an old song by the Blue Oyster Cult, according to
someone in AMN. I think it is called "Don't Fear The Reaper". I'm not
trying to score points here in the "Let's Fuck With Newbies Because
We're So Cool And They Are Not" contest, I'm actually serious (alternate
meaning: "I'm trying to help out, damnit.")

For the record, I first thought that Kurt was screwing around with the
chords to "Dumb", which you all know is E A G C. But now, I really
couldn't care less about that.

That version is from the 08/30/92 Reading Festival, UK show. Incomplete
soundboard recording availible on _Dumb_ (Kiss The Stone), and if I
remember correctly, it also appears on the _Into The Black_ box set.

The full version of the show is also availible on cassette (or cd-r, for
that matter...oh yeah, there is a bootleg called _The Complete Reading
festival 1992_ or someting like that, but I've heard that it sounds
terrible. It's a japanese boot, if I recall correctly), though it
doesn't have the great quality that the soundboard recording has. It's
not bad at all, on the other hand.

This is hardly Nirvana-related, but I'm listening to Sonic Youth's
"Genetic", and I have to say that this song is one of the best songs I
have _ever_ heard. Buy their _100%_ single, and you'll get it...thanks
bye see you later auf wiedersehen

I have a real audio of this Sliver. It's 08/30/92 (The Reading Festival).
I think that is one of the best versions because it sounds better when
Kurt screams "Please don't gooooooooo." If anyone wants me to upload the
ra, just ask.
