I don't have much experience with bond mutual funds, but would like to change my current portfolio allocation to include more bonds. I am currently retired and do not need additional income, so bond funds with high income characteristics are not needed. I would just reinvest the dividends. Any suggestions as to how to proceed? Any specific suggestions for which bond mutual funds to buy? I don't have a lot of time for Internet research. I'm considering the Vanguard Total Bond Market Index fund as an easy way to go. Would this be a good choice right now? Should the rising interest rates affect my decision?
