Creative Geologist in Oil and Gas Exploration To be creative for a geologist is different than to be creative for neither an architect nor a chemical engineer. Even though geological department in most Indonesian universities are within Engineering Faculties, exploration geologist did not create a natural resources. Exploration geologist discovered natural resources. They did not fabricate oil or fuel. Discover means determine the existence, presence, or fact of. (dis = remove, cover = wrap). To find oil and gas a geologist, you will need a creative organization which can produce a creative working hypothesis before drilling for another discoveries. This creative organization requires a strong exploration team, excellent technical capabilities, and a creative mindset. In the past, creative was known as a talent or given. Nowadays, many studies suggested that creative can be managed and generated by designed. Studies by Getzels (1960) showing that there are five stages on the creative process. Those are:* First Insight, → Saturation, → Incubation, → Illumination, → Verification.On an organisation or collective of people, these five steps will only successfully work on a perfect teamwork. Exploration geologist requires a lot of geophysical data before they saturates their knowledge and understanding the earth structure underneath. After a brilliant idea illuminated on their mind, a geologist cannot verify by themselves. He or she needs drilling engineer to prove their hypothesis.
