Interfacing with the new Java Scripting API

I wonder if you've looked at the new Java Scripting API included in
Java SE 6. See https://scripting.dev.java.net/ and
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/scripting/programmer_guide/index.html

Perl is conspicuously absent from the scripting engines listed on
https://scripting.dev.java.net

Could it provide an alternative or complementary way for perl to
interface with Java?
