I remember someone asking about this about a week ago. I didn't know anything about this particular aspect of the problem. When in X, I just hit ctrl-alt-F1, then suspend. When I power-up again, I can get back to X by pressing Alt-F7. I know that some people try this and get the color-cycling problem. I've never had it. I'm using RedHat 5.2. I've done everything I can think of, and even the previous advice I got on this list hasn't helped. Whenever I suspend, my X console goes through this bizarre color cycling routine and locks. All I can do is switch to a text console and shutdown. Has anyone tried compiling APM under Kernel 2.2? I did, and the poweroff on shutdown doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas?
