**New Structure for INSTRAW Website** The INSTRAW website is undergoing some
changes in both content and structure in order to facilitate navigation
throughout the site and accessibility to information and resources. Users
will be able to view the new site in early June. Please visit the redesigned

**Special Collection on Gender and ICTs** The Special Collection of
Resources on Gender and ICTs continues to grow and currently includes some
150 publications in English, French and Spanish.

2. RESEARCH AND TRAINING PROGRAMMES
**Professional Management Training Programme** Each month a new four-week
programme is offered by the International Training Centre for Women (ITW) in
The Netherlands. Tailor-made programmes can also be arranged to meet the
specific training needs of middle-management groups from one organization.

**Gender MBA** The International Training Centre for Women (ITW) in the
Netherlands offers its Gender MBA programme for all women interested in
upgrading their management skills. An international staff of professors from

3. CONFERENCES, SEMINARS AND OTHER EVENTS
**International Perspectives: Global Voices for Gender Equity** The American
Association of University Women is organizing this International Symposium
to take place 15-17 November 2002 in Washington, D.C. (USA). At the
symposium, papers will be presented on the following themes: Governance;
Peace Education and Conflict Resolution; and Literacy and Education for
People with Disabilities. International and domestic travel grants may be
available. Deadline for registration is 21 October 2002.

**Implementation of Gender Mainstreaming in Europe: a Challenge for
Political Education** This European Congress will be held on 6-8 September
2002 in Leipzig, Germany. The Congress aims to promote the implementation of

**World Summit-Women in Film and Television** This Summit will be held 23-27
October 2002 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It will focus on bringing together of

**Asia and Pacific Women’s Electronic Network Training Workshop 2002** The
Asia Women’s Resource Exchange (AWORC) will hold the fourth Workshop called
WENT2002 on 8-15 August 2002 at the Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul,
Korea. The training aims to build the capacities of women and their
organizations to utilize new ICTs in social development work and policy
advocacy. Training will be given on: Web and Database Management; Using ICTs
for Social and Policy Advocacy; and Local Area Networking. Deadline for

**Women’s Health and Rights in Africa** AMANITARE – African Partnership for
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Women and Girls, announces the

4. CALL FOR PAPERS/PROPOSALS
**Women and Communication** Isis International-Manila is coming out with the
second issue for 2002 of its magazine Women in Action with the theme Women
and Communication. Articles are invited on a wide range of topics, among
them: access to communication as a human rights/development issue; women’s
access and participation in ICT; and what is the Southern perspective and/or
analysis on women and communication. Deadline for submissions is 30 June

**Student Writing Competition on the Law and Gender-Based Discrimination in
the CEE Region** The Central and East European Law Initiative (CEELI)
invites essays on the theme “The role of the Rule of Law in Addressing
Gender-Based Discrimination in the Emerging Democracies of Central and
Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union”. Strong emphasis is placed on
the author’s own ideas about the selected topic. Winners will be announced

Policy Fellowship programme in Budapest. Among the 2003 Fellowship Issue

**Gender Evaluation Methodology (GEM)** GEM is a guide to integrating a
