Hola Folks! When I first setup the Google ads, I missed a key part of their compliance policy. The first 15 days I noticed only a few clicks on the Google ads so thought I should put up a small request asking people to click on the ads. Almost immediately people began clicking the ads which upped the numbers. Recently I received the following; Google AdSense Policy Enforcement wrote:
Hello, We regularly review sites in the AdSense program for compliance with our program policies. We found that you are in violation of these policies on pages such as; http://whatwouldphoebedo.blogspot.com/2005/06/making-use-of-my-neighborhoods.html We found that you are using language which may encourage your website users to click on the Google ads you're serving through AdSense. This activity - which can artificially inflate AdWords advertiser costs - is prohibited by our program policies. For example, your site cannot contain phrases such as "click the ads," "support our sponsors," "visit these recommended links," or other similar language that could apply to any ad, regardless of content. We therefore request that you please remove language encouraging clicks from all pages in your network. Please make the necessary changes to your web pages in the next 72 hours. We also suggest that you take the time to review our program policies (https://www.google.com/adsense/policies <http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Furl%3Fsa%3DD%26q%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252Fadsense%252Fpolicies>)to ensure that all of your other pages are in compliance. Once you update your pages, we will automatically detect the changes and ad serving will not be affected. If you choose not to make the requested changes to your account within the next three days, we will disable ad serving to the site. Thank you for your understanding. Sincerely, The Google AdSense Team
I checked the policies page and sure enough, there it was in black and
white. Within a matter of hours, I had removed all recommendations that
I could find on clicking google ads to comply with their policy.
Alas, the click hits went back down, meaning the few pennies made from
each ad click went down too!
Oh well, its their system and their rules. It still doesn't mean people
CAN'T CLICK to help support the site,
just that I can't recommend or otherwise suggest it on any of the pages.
So if you visit KeelyNet, bear all this in mind...I appreciate your efforts.
