I was looking for info on last nights ABC news report on health effects of teflon coated paper and food wrappers. You need to look at some of these sites so don't delete til you have time to click on some!!!!!!!

http://www.rawfoodinfo.com/artPusztaiGMO.html and look at Environmental Working Group Not only are we being poisoned by Teflon coated papper, pans, cardboard, shoes, cloths, but genetically altered food is very dangerous, geneticaly enginered potatos killed rats but they are alright for humans! Read some of the stuff scientist have found!

Yes, I have an item on todays news items (11/19/05) about that, but not to the extent you have. Pretty nasty stuff, I've eaten from Teflon off and on for many years but prefer an iron skillet though it's harder to clean.

When you read the article I have, it initially looks like a disgruntled ex-employee but if the revelation of this kind of news results from people getting fired...we should hope for it to happen more often to bring these topics to light!

11/19/05 - Dupont knew Teflon risks to health and hid the info
DuPont Co. hid studies showing the risks of a Teflon-related chemical used to line candy wrappers, pizza boxes, microwave popcorn bags and hundreds of other food containers, according to internal company documents and a former employee. The chemical Zonyl can rub off the liner and get into food. Once in a persons body, it can break down into perfluorooctanoic acid and its salts, known as PFOA, a related chemical used in the making of Teflon-coated cookware. One of the documents, a 1987 memo, cites laboratory tests showing the chemical came off paper coating and leached into foods at levels three times higher than the FDA limit set in 1967. Another document, a 1973 Dupont study in which rats and dogs were fed Zonyl for 90 days, said both types of animals had anemia and damage to their kidneys and livers; the dogs had higher cholesterol levels.

Will post it to the discussion list.

Also, a post about the life spans and health conditions of animals eating genetically altered foods was posted;

10/28/05 - People eating genetically modified food may have rat-short lifespan

It is generally believed that rats, cockroaches and cyanobacteria can survive any biological catastrophe. But recently, researchers have once again stated that there is a delayed action poison which can slowly kill even enduring rodents. Experimental rats were given food containing genetically modified components. The rats survived during the experiment but their conduct seriously changed: they became nervous, anxious and even aggressive for no reason at all. The researcher discovered abnormal pathologic changes in the liver and testicles of the rats. This is important that descendants of the experimental rats fed with GMF had really terrible problems. Alien components turned out to be lethal for little rats. Generally, all rats of one litter survive. But over 55 percent of experimental rats' babies were born dead or died soon after they came to the world. At that, their death was really agonizing, they were found with their intestines swollen. Other new-born rats had really weak health. At the same time, mothers did not reveal their motherly instinct actively. Experiments reveal that transgenes are very poisonous for descendants and are in fact a delayed action biological weapon.

Thanks for the headsup!
