I am in a very small minority on this, but I'm of the opinion there won't be an
internet in the 2020's.  And not that it will be replaced by advanced xG mobile
wireless platforms either, as they also won't be there by then, at least not
for the average user/citizen.  It won't be for apocalyptic reasons either that
these networks won't be around, but simply economic cost (both for providers,
users, and infrastructure), lack of needed resources/production, and electrical
blackouts.  So I worry that in the meantime radio and television stations will
either go out of business and relinquish their licenses due to this shift in
technologies (and worse yet, maybe physically dismantle their stations), and
then, when the internet or its replacements are also no longer there, we won't
have the time or the financial means to resurrect those "older" broadcast
technologies again when we will really want them around.

Internet and high-tech wireless connectivity is great to have, but I don't want
to depend on it.
