PhD Position Eindhoven University of Technology
Performance analysis of workflow processes

The Department of Computing Science (WSK/INF, Eindhoven University of
Technology) is seeking applications for a PhD position in the field of
information systems. The research project "Performance analysis of workflow
processes" is conducted within the research school BETA (Business
Engineering and Technology Application). The goal of the project is to
develop new techniques for semi-automatic process improvement. To achieve
this goal process modeling techniques such as Petri nets are augmented with
techniques from operations research. The project is linked to several other
research projects conducted at Eindhoven University of Technology and other
universities.

Job requirements
You must have a MSc degree, preferably in a technical science (e.g.,
industrial engineering, computing science, or applied mathematics), and
experience in process modeling techniques (e.g., Petri nets) and/or
stochastic processes (e.g., queueing theory). We are particularly interested
in candidates that would like to bridge the gap between theory (e.g.
stochastic Petri net/queueing theory) and applications (workflow
management).

Appointment/salary
Appointments are for four years. PhD students will receive a monthly salary
of DFL 2,953 in their first year, which will rise to DFL 4,037 (gross) in
the final (fourth) year. Eindhoven University of Technology has an excellent
package of attractive benefits for employees, a child-care facility, and a
modern sports complex. As part of an equal opportunity scheme, women are
explicitly requested to apply. Attaining a PhD at Eindhoven University of
Technology provides you with excellent career opportunities.
