Dear SOI Asia Partners,

As we have announced before, we are going to have "Adcanced Internet
Technology-II: Internet Operation" lecture from September to December
2004.

In the last steering committe meeting, ITB, UCSY, NUOL, UNHAS, HUT
CHULA, AIT, UNIBRAW and UNSRAT showed interests in this lecture.  
The lecture level is for graduates and professionals.

The wab page will be at http://www.soi.wide.ad.jp/class/20040013,
although it is still under construction.  I will announce soon when 
it is ready.

I hope every sites that showed interest will start to gather students
for this lecture.  I will start from September 10th.

Students will be able to register this course from August 10th at the
above mentioned web page.  (I will let you know when the page is 
ready,too)  After the students finishes and submits their assingnments,
some students who have done great in the assignment will be able to 
join the Advanced IT lecture workshop that will be held around December
2004 to February 2005. 

I hope many people can join our class.

TITLE: Advanced Internet Technology: Internet Operation 
        by WIDE Project

DATE: TBD
        Sept-Nov: Lecture on Tuesday and Friday afternoon (tentative)
        Dec: Hands on workshop in Thailand / Indonesia
        (*Dates will be fixed by the end of June, 2004)

SUMMARY:
        This course aims to provide more practical knowledge in 
        Internet operations, and the targeted audiences are SOI Asia 
        operators.  Dr. Akira Kato of University of Tokyo leads the 
        planning of this lecture.  We are planning to do lectures to 
        participants with graduate school level student knowledge.  
        Each partner is expected to gather participants at your site.
        At the end of this lecture series, hands on workshop is planned, 
        and couple of participants who gained best grades will be invited.  

LECTURES (tentative):

    Lectures will cover the following topics;
        IGP, EGP(BGP), routing registry,
        ingress filter, IPv6 operation, Practical security in operation
        Wave LAN, DNS operation , IDN pros/cons, OSPF, Application
        Enum, Upcoming operation trends, P2P, Implementation , Streaming, 
        IX operation
