I doubt it's a reader problem.

Bug visible with all those linux viewers:
  acroread 8.1.2
  kpdf 0.5.8
  ghostscript 3.6.3
  Evince Document Viewer 2.20.1

You can look at the attached PDF (generated with the sample code in the ticket 
and iText 2.1.2) with the reader of your choice.
