I'll chat with Doctrine developers and try to see if there's an easy way to
implement it or if they're working on it. Implementing it myself will
distance me from Jaws for a little while though, but considering we
absolutely need it, it might be worth it !

I really like the idea of using Doctrine and yes, we _NEED_ to continue
using schema files for defining tables, the language can be XML or YAML.
Also, if you find a way to implement this feature to Doctrine go ahead,
iirc propel (another ORM) has that feature too.
