There is no concept of dalit ST/SC in Isla, infact there is no provision of caste system in Islam , Islam believes in equality intrue sense. Unfortunately in certain parts of India ,muslims have themselves started caste system [ taking a clue from their Non-muslim counterparts]and certain State govts have provided reservations to such so called muslim castes too , out of their sheer political compulsions.The irony is this that these State Govts[Bihar/Jharkhand]have provided the reservatins to these so called backward caste muslims as OBCs[Annexure II]in the name of ''MOMINS'' One should know the meaning of 'Momin'' Momin'means a''muslim''everybody knows this including those who are availing these facilities, Now should we ask these Govts , are they providing reservations to 'muslims'enbloc,or what is the oficial interpretation ''momin'?. In our country , there should be only one criterion for reservation--- --economic and if you are a backward /dalit ,you are also backward econimically too and then you automatically qualify for reservation, where is the problem then? But we think always for political gains . so , who will bell the cat? DR. MATIN AHMAD KHAN
I think Mr. Benjamin has made some very important observations regarding the plight of Dalit christians in India. If what he says is broadly true then it is a serious matter and the relevant facts should be more widely known to Indians. However before people like me, who have no easy access to reliable data in this area, seriously consider revising their views about religious conversions in India, it will be appropriate also to listen to the other side of the story. Could a leading christian intellectual, perhaps someone like Dr. Cedric Prakash, be requested educate the readers of Jharkhand Forum by providing more authenticated facts and the stand of Indian Christian leaders in the matter? May be the editors of Jharkhand Forum could take an initiative in this regard. Suresh Mahajan
