Volunteer and (slightly) paid opportunities abound, read on Date: Thu, 24 Aug 2000 06:05:27 -0700 From: atrooper <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Help Bridge the Digital Divide in Kansas City - The Cyberdome When replying to this email place "Digital Divide" in the subject line I have obtained several (30+) computers and monitors (386/486) that are in need of service, they are at my home (we are short keyboards and mice). When the systems are in working order they will be given away. You may have indicated an interest in getting inside of a box or helping in some way. The repair of the systems will take place at my home on weekends until our Habitat location is WIRED... this is a technology project for the CREW (inner city kids). I am searching for technicians or adults that are willing to help me teach the CREW and supervise the repairs at my home on weekends. My secondary objective is to get adults involved in technology projects with the CREW. This is a request for experienced technicians for short or long term (and parts). The systems may be in need of drivers from the internet (we can do that). I have a short list of adults that have voiced an interest in participation in these projects. Any parts that can be contributed will go toward moving these computers into the community and help bridge the Digital Divide. I have 40+ names that want the systems. More people than computers so far. (another request for donations) I am going to get the Kids some Polo Shirts for there participation in the volunteer projects. The shirts will have a Cyberdome LoGo not yet designed A small donation will be requested for all services the Crew performs. The donations will go toward rent, utilities and related costs in our new building. In the Habitat for Humanity Building location. Anyone can make a small donation. If you are aware of someone that may be interested in providing any form of support have them Email me. put "Digital Divide" in the subject line. [EMAIL PROTECTED] and / or [EMAIL PROTECTED] my voice mail number 816-923-1659. I have had several requests for in home computer repair.
