Title: RE: October 15th Meeting

I'm still looking for someone to do a book review at the Oct. 15th meeting. Read any books lately? Nudge nudge... wink wink... How about you?

 

Speaking of book reviews, I've made contacts at both O'Reilly and Manning. I'm still working on Wrox press, and if you have any other favorite publishers give me a holler.

 

So go on over to the O'Reilly and Manning websites and check out their new releases and let me know if you'd like to review any of them. They tend to look favorably on reviews of newer books, and discourage reviews of books more than a year old.

 

When you recieve a review book, you are committing to: read the book, review it before the group, and post a writeup to the mailing list. All in a timely manner... i.e., 1-2 months from receipt. Once I get a handle on the web pages I'll also post the book reviews there.

 

As to who owns review copies... we can discuss that at the Oct. 15th meeting. IMHO, I figure whoever does the first review should be entitled to keep it, provided they're willing to loan it to other members on request.
