Algiers Monday 26 February 2001
The Algerian Movement of the Free Officers
LEGALITY HONNOR JUSTICE

The Dirty War:

We learned with revulsion the massacre of 47 officers held in underground
cells in the famous barracks of Boughar, old military base of the colonial
time located in the first military region between Médéa and
Ksar-el-Boukhari.

The officers at the end of their conviction time and all releasable the
15.03.01, were isolated in a wing from the prison, were gathered together
and assassinated cold blood in the day of the 25.02.01 by a special commando
attached to the DRS and dispatched on the spot by the Generals Mohamed
Lamari and Mohamed Mediene.

Through this wretched massacre of honourable officers who have during
several years, lived an indescribable nightmare and tasted the multiples
faces of torture because of their refusal to take part in the crimes against
the civilians or to carry out ruthless commands, Mohamed Lamari and Toufik
want to transmit a bloody response to those which would like to describe
other faces of the dirty war and to testify about the atrocity of a conflict
which brings each day its batch of new victims.

The world attitude and particularly American and French cannot any more keep
silent and remain inert in front of what is appropriate to call an obvious
liquidation of witnesses who sinisterly lived the Algerian drama.

Between the killed Officers we name: Colonel SEDIKI RACHID and commandant
BAHRI DJAMEL.

The Generals responsible for these crimes cannot in any case assign the
massacre of these officers to a pseudo-commando of the GIA. This crime will
not overlook and will take the importance, which is due for it within the
Algerian people and in front of the international authorities.

The Algerian Movement of the Free Officers presents with humility its
condolences to the families of the officers victims. Justice will be made;
this is a promise not a threat.

Glory to our martyrs and God saves ALGERIA

For The Algerian Movement of the Free Officers

COLONEL BAALI ALI
