I had a bit of luck this week, although it did cost me rather. I had a  
call at the weekend from friend who was in Canterbury shopping and had  
come across 50 (yes 50) lace books in the Oxfam book shop.  
Unexpectedly I was required to go to Canterbury this week for work to  
train some of my colleagues so I took advantage of the situation and  
headed off to Oxfam.

I returned £73 lighter of purse and 13 books heavier in my bag, and  
that was after I agonised over whether I really needed some of the  
books. It was a great opportunity to stock up with some books to boost  
my library as I have recently started teaching at Adult Education  
classes.

Of course, as my friend had told me all about them in the first place,  
she was personally to blame for me having spent so much money. I think  
the volunteers had never taken so much money in one transaction  
judging by the looks on their faces!
