Dear Carrie, I am glad you have gotten your life back. It is sad that Lace Express is discontuing publication. But, all is not bleak in the lace world in your area. As always, the Metro Chapter of the IOLI is just across the river from you, and the Lost Art Lacers a bit farther away. Lace classes are being given in several places in New Jersey, and also in Brooklyn at the Textile Arts Center, 505 Carroll St. Also, a new group, the Brooklyn Lace Guild has started up in Brooklyn. The next meeting is in the evening of March 25, a Saturday. It meets at the Textile Arts Center. In some ways, the lace scene has never been brighter. The Lace magazines of OIDFA, the Lace Guild (England) and the International Organization of Lace are still being published. In addition there are a number of internet sites, like the International Organization of Laceâs facebook site that I maintain. I try to keep people up to date on the activities that they might like to attend and what the chapters of the IOLI are up to. Check out LaceNews, as well as a number of facebook sites devoted to Bobbin Lace. Most importantly, the International Organization of Laceâs yearly convention will be held in Philadelphia, July 16-22, the first on the east coast for some time. There are still a few places available in classes. I think that you will find that the lace community is still available as a source of fun activities and social contact. Devon, in New Jersey

I finally have my life back (kids out of college) and am devastated by the loss of this magazine I would also be happy to scan any lace express issues ****return the original to their owner **** and donate the scans to any group or archive that would be deemed appropriate. This magazine has been around for some years and has added greatly to my enjoyment of lacemaking. It is has also been a great teaching resource. The professional finish of the magazine made it quite expensive but I think it served well to publicise a contemporary take on our traditional craft. I for one will miss it and send my best wishes to the Karpenko family for a well deserved retirement if that is the reason for the closure, assuming they read Arachne postings. > > On another topic, I am going to be on holiday in June in Malaga, Spain.
