I did something similar, but with an SLR camera with a close-up filter set 
I got at my local Wolf Camera store.  I now have photos and negatives 
of photos.  Some of the photos look just as good as the original, plus I 
was able to share the photos with other relatives.  I also plan to burn 
them into a CD one of these days...
