Hello David,

Thanks for your help! I hadn’t understood that associatedVoice could be used:
Manual syllable durations

In some complex vocal music, it may be desirable to place lyrics completely
independently of notes. In this case do not use \lyricsto or \addlyrics and do
not set associatedVoice.

Maybe an example such as this one could be added to the snippets repository?

My other question stems from Recordare’s Echigo-jishi.xml. MuseScore attaches
the syllable ツ :

    <measure number="36" width="220">
      <print new-system="yes"/>
      <note default-x="52">
        <rest/>
        <duration>4</duration>
        <voice>1</voice>
        <type>eighth</type>
        <lyric default-y="-80" number="1">
          <syllabic>single</syllabic>
          <text>ツ</text>
        </lyric>
      </note>

to the rest:

It is handled by same way by Finale 2014.

Shouldn’t such a case lead to an error message, or at least to the <text />
being ignored (I know, no one among the Lilypond support team can probably act
on that)?
