xfig has a large collection of pre-made shapes, if that's what's you're
looking for (don't remember the URL. Try your distro or freshmeat.net ).

Note that in recent versions (3.23c (?)) xfig's user interface got a major
facelift, and now is more usable with a keyboard, and has more standard
menus.
