this is why when we show them how to edit system files, we tell them to
make a backup copy of the file before they edit it. they don't need a
method for mass backups, since they will edit a single file at a time.
and they will do this backup with a file manager anyway. i say - leave
this for the administration lecture - where it rightfully belongs.
