Yes, of course. Although, the RH 7.2 allows using ext3fs during install, or, of course, converting existing partitions to it. Quite nice. I have made few tests with ext3, and found it only a bit overhead, but working well. I have never, though, tried ext3 with bad sectors. I know Reiser works poorly when there are bad sectors. Ext2 works ok with them. No one likes them, of course, but you can keep up a working system on a disk with fixed amount of bad sectors, which cannot be said on reiser. There is one weird thing with RH7.2, if you build the partitions using fdisk, the graphics tool, if I'm correct called diskdruid or something, does not recognize your partitions correctly. You have to "re-create" them using this tool. I did not encounter any such thing with RH7.1 Ez. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shlomi Fish" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "mulix" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Ez-Aton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Tzafrir Cohen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Shlomi Loubaton" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "lin-club" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Eli Billauer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2001 9:20 AM Subject: [Haifux] Re: My experiences with Mandrake 8.1 > On Wed, 31 Oct 2001, mulix wrote: > > > On Wed, 31 Oct 2001, Ez-Aton wrote: > > > > > >From my experiance with RH7.1, I would recommend it. > > > > another (smallish) point in favor of RH7.1: it's the distro that's > > installed in the cs faculty's computer farm -> familiar to the students. > > > > Mandrake is mostly compatible with RH.
