i think pygame is the way to go, its a bit different than PIL, though offers you a great toolset for image manipulation and animation, as it is based on sdl, you can use it to make interactive stuff as well, quick and easy. btw. i work @ kunstradio.at not as an admin, more as a all in one webdesigner admin and streaming media.
