In my opinion, a candidate who has already achieved RHCE certification will have the skills necessary to pass the RH-T2 LPI test... in most cases, of course. The RHCE test looks pretty comprehensive on the Red Hat specifics, and may even be more stringent. http://www.redhat.com/products/training_examprep.html The RHCE exam is also more costly, which could factor into the decision if the goal here is to create an inexpensive Linux certification. Allowing for an RHCE exemption would be good for promoting cross-certification. This is the marketing reason Novell and Microsoft accept each others basic networking exams for the CNE-5 and MCSE-4 tracks. (Yes, Novell has finally given in.) This is, of course, not the case with the MCSE-W2K track, as there will no longer be an individual MS Networking Essentials exam, and consequently no product overlap. ~JEREMIAH PATOKA -----Original Message----- From: Dan York [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 1999 10:09 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RHCE qualifying as distro-specific T2 exam at level 1? l-c-program, Recently I had someone suggest a question for the LPI FAQ that went like this: Q: Will Red Hat's RHCE subsitute for the vendor-specific exam? (Can I take the first two exams (T1a and T1b) and then skip the Red Hat T2 exam if I am already an RHCE?) I don't have an answer to that one, as it's something we haven't considered to date. Our objectives for the RH T2 test are at: http://www.lpi.org/p-obj-t2d.html Perhaps we need to fully understand what the RHCE covers - if it hits all of these objectives than perhaps it *is* something to consider. It *would* be a nice way to peacefully coexist with another Linux cert program. Any thoughts, comments?
