Perhaps I should clarify my original comment. I agree that nobody in their right mind would take the RHCE exam to only satisfy an LPI requirement. My position is that attracting pre-certified RHCEs with a T2d exemption is a good marketing decision and would compliment the LPI track's goals of quality and affordability. The RHCE curriculum looks solid, in my opinion, and if an RHCE candidate has already spent a considerable amount of money on RH, then a LPI T2d exemption makes LPIC cheaper and more attractive. This is why MS gave CNEs the Networking Essentials exemption, although one might argue the "quality" goal. :) On the flip-side, NOT giving an exemption would perhaps add more value to the RHCE/LPI certified person if they choose a distribution specific exam other than Red Hat. However, the same holds true for providing the exemption and taking another LPI distribution exam anyway. Demonstrating proficiency in more than one distribution would only enhance your personal marketability. But, given the general laziness of people, most RHCEs would probably take the Red Hat T2d test because it would require less studying. ~JEREMIAH PATOKA -----Original Message----- From: Evan Leibovitch [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 1999 1:42 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: RHCE qualifying as distro-specific T2 exam at level 1? I don't think the issue here is that someone would take the RH exam instead of LPI exam T2d if going purely for LPI certification -- it's the other way around. That is, if someone already is an RHCE and wants LPI certification too, must they still take T2d? Can/should LPI accept passing of RHCE as a substitute for T2d? This issue is worthwhile to discuss.
