upgraading a Toshiba Satellite 4030CDT hark disk

Hello,

I'm looking at upgrading our Toshiba Satellite 4030CDT hard disk
and am trying to determine what attributes should I look for in the
hard drive.

>From digging the net, it sounds like just about any 2.5" IDE hard
drive would fit.
I was warned about the limitations of the BIOS in supporting large
disks. I've upgraded the BIOS about a year ago to make it
bootable from CD-ROM. I'm still looking at the BIOS's limits.

(current drive is 9.5mm high, 6 Gb, detailed specs available from
http://tinyurl.com/8fczj (pdf file)).

Does anyone know what should I look for? Have any experience
with this?

I don't need a very large drive. The smallest I found (except for
4Gb/6Gb) are 20Gb and I expect these to be more than enough,
I just need enough space to install Ubuntu next to the Win98
partition (Ubuntu boots very well from a live cd once I added
128Mb to a total of 192Mb).

Any information, hints, tricks to check the BIOS, possible sites to
look at, pointers to forums or anything else would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
