Employee, definitely. I don't have the iron nerves it takes to be independent.
I can tell you about PHP that I'm sure it's extremely difficult to find work as a PHP programmer employee, but not at all difficult to do so asa free lance.
I have a feeling that this is a self-feeding problem. I mean, our company has advertised in the past for PHP programmers, and we had very little luck finding any, even as far as sending us a CV. Because there are no workers, there are no places that work in PHP, and because there are no places, there are no workers.
Anyway, I don't want to work in PHP anymore, that's why I'm looking for this change.
The best you can get, in that respect, is work for a (small?) consultingcompany. The nerves are someone else's, and you have (at least the illusion) of stability (none of Lingnu's employees are reading this thread, right?), while maintaining the flexibility of consulting work.
:-)I'll keep that in mind, though I have a feeling one can only get into one of those through connections, not through advertising.
