I don't know if this is your case, but this usually happens when the *remote* machine doesn't have ~/.ssh/authorized_keys set up properly. A very common reason is that it doesn't have the proper permissions. Make sure that nobody else but you have any permissions for ~/.ssh and ~/.ssh/authorized_keys on the remote machine (run "chmod og=" on these files if they have the wrong permission). If this is NOT the problem, go to the server and look at its logs to see if they give you any hints on what is not working.
