No, not esports... Gosh! I can't believe I wrote that whole thing without mentioning the name of the company or anything! Where was my head? :o)
The company is Planet Access <http://placs.net>. We do lots of stuff, including hardware and networking, but there are a few of us who program and we're specifically looking for a ColdFusion guy or gal who could fill in at one of our big client's who's beginning development on a pretty big app. I know that most folks have job already or are specifically contractors. I asked my boss if this could be done on a contract basis, and he said he wasn't sure, but that the person would have to pass our little entrance exam first. Again, that test is pretty easy, but we seem to have a hard time finding people who can pass it. We've even had people think that it was a trick and that there were no answers! :o) Admit it: you're curious and want to take the test now don't ya? :o) The test simply gauges your ability to problem solve. It does *not* test your knowledge. It's a piece of cake for programmers because it's nothing but following a bunch of flow charts. It does stuff like: Take the number in box 3, add 1 and put the result back into box 3. If the number in box 3 is greater than 10 go to the next step else repeat instruction 2. Obviously, it gets a *little* trickier than that, but not much. If I'm right (and I think I am) we really need someone who can hit the ground running in helping to develop this app. We've got one guy in there working on it, but we really need two, and the rest of us are super busy. Hope this helps. It's really a cool little company to work for, and like I said, my boss may consider contracting this out, but he wants who ever will work on it to be able to pass this test first. There's only eleven questions, and like I said the test really isn't that hard. Just get a 9, 10 or 11 and you've passed. Cheers, Chris Stuff like that. It's really not that hard. Let me know if there are any more questions.
