I studied the logs, but couldn't find the reason for this behavior. Testing locally gives me exactly the same results - STATUS always reports the correct UIDNEXT, MESSAGES and RECENT counts, regardless of wether or not the mailbox had been selected already.
I'm thinking that maybe there's something with the format of the message again, so if you could do this test and show with the output of "find" what the contents of the test directory are, that would eliminate some options for me. I would need to see the result of "find" when the message has reached ".test/new" and equivalent.
Also, it would be excellent if you could have a concurrent connection to
the Binc IMAP account when the new message is not detected, and then issue
a
. STATUS test (MESSAGES UIDNEXT RECENT)
To see if you can notice the new message from your manual check.
