[LIT] Mini lesson ideas for lifting the level of a narrative

Hi all!  I need some good mini lesson ideas for lifting the level of 
narratives.  This is for a 6th grade class...most of the class is in their 3rd 
or 4th year of workshop and has done narratives before.  I need to push them 
now to "lift the level" of their narratives, maybe even memoir?  Any great 
little gems out there?
