[lost-world] Third season in doubt

I apologize for my long silence. I have been busy arranging to start a new
job, arranging to relocate, vacating the home I was renting, and tending to
other situations. In the process I have had little time for the Internet
and haven't had the high-speed access I was used to for a couple of
weeks. It's difficult to accomplish as much as I used to right now.

There are rumors that SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE'S THE LOST WORLD will not
return to the air next fall as expected. I have very little inside
information, and nothing which has not been published in the past couple of
weeks.

None of the actors have yet been contacted to return to the show. There is
an uncomfirmed report on Xenite.Org's Lost World forum that the show has
been shut down permanently in Australia. That news most likely came from
an unnamed source with Coote-Hayes, the production company which actually
filmed SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE'S THE LOST WORLD. Telescene, the Canadian
company which underwrote the show, went bankrupt earlier this year. Its
assets were transferred to another Canadian company, Cinegroup. The third
season was approved, but apparently funding has never materialized.

If/when I hear anything definite, I'll post something to this list, as my
schedule and Internet access permit.

I wish I had better news for everyone.

I did get to see Michael Sinelnikoff's return in the 21st episode of Season
Two a few weeks ago. I was actually traveling at the time and managed to
catch the show on WGN by fortunate accident. Michael told his fans a few
months ago that he did not shoot any actual footage for the episode, but he
did record new dialogue. So all the images of our beloved Professor
Summerlee used in the episode were actually taken from the first
season. They left the Professor's fate an open question, and clearly had
an opportunity to bring him back for the third season.

Michael reported that the day after his dialogue was recorded, Telescene
ceased to exist.

Although many of us were disappointed, or even angered by the numerous
changes Telescene made to the show for the second season, including their
impolite handling of Michael Sinelnikoff, the failure of Telescene and the
probable end of the show represent a lot of lost jobs for people who were
just trying to entertain us.

I wish them all the best, and hope that some day, somehow, we'll see
Professor Arthur Summerlee get back together with his friends on the
endless plateau.
