The word "tirer" is used in the explanations by Gaultier (rules 7 to 10)
and by Mouton (rule 5) with regard to pulling a course with fingers of
the left hand after having played a preceding fretted note
(pulling-off). That applies to appogiatura from above, of course, but
just as well to other playing situations. 
Mouton uses "tirer" also for raking chords with thumb or forefinger of
the right hand (rule 11).

Tirer denotes playing techniques, not an ornament.
