SOunds to me that this was intended as a scholarly editino, the errors are
of interest and are probably discussed.  If the original MS was consulted
it is possible that a diplomatic facsimile was all that the researcher
could take home.

Perhaps the discussino of this thesis will be worth that, if so, it may
again not be intended as a performing edition.

As if we needed more staff editions, with more risk of error in the
transcription.
