Once I have some input on this issue, I'll schedule the string freeze.

I'd like to add knitr support, (see #7887). It is a new module and 
some R support script.

OK, the module will change strings. How soon can that go? If necessary, 
you could add a stub of the module and finish the actual work before 
release.
