Hi, I want to split a cell in Lyx as shown below. How can I do that? (Attached file pdf file contains the same table)
LyX can't split a cell, but you can work around this fact by creating an extra column. Then, merge cells on all lines except the one where
you want the split. This gives you a horizontal "split", although with some work. You may want to file a wishlist item on bugzilla.lyx.org about this - the LyX
GUI could certainly automate such an operation. There is no vertical splitting, but it is still possible to make a table that look like yours. Simply make the dividing line invisible in some places, and it should look like your pdf. Actually putting something into those cells will reveal the fact that they aren't really merged horizontally. I attached a LyX file that looks like your example. It works with Lyx version 1.5 I had to use the upcoming LyX-1.6 to make it, as getting the lines right in LyX 1.5 is hard. This is much easier in LyX 1.6. Still, the file uses no 1.6 specific stuff, so it converted nicely to 1.5 format. Helge Hafting
