Thank you Anders! If I figure out how to change the menu entry locally
for you (I think we just need to put a file in your user directory),
would you be open to testing it? Basically, when you go to quit by the
menu, instead of running the usual command, it would run the workaround
command that you tried.

Thanks,
Scott
Of course, just let me know and I will try it.

I don't know what customizations we do on macOS. In particular, I don't
know if the menu entries are the same. But let's give it a try.

First, exit LyX.

Then, locate your user directory. Inside that directory, if there is not
a directory called "ui" then create one. If there is a directory called
ui and it is not empty, let me know what else is in there (it might
cause problems).

Then, put the attached file inside that user ui directory. The only
thing I changed was the File > Exit entry.

Now start LyX and open a document and go to File > Exit and see if it
works now.

Thanks for testing!

Scott
Hmm, I think you want the ui directory inside the App Content, see attached. Or
am I mistaken

LyX looks for these files in three locations: The user directory, a system directory, and even a third place I can't remember. In that order. So if you want to customize something just for you, you can put it into your user directory.
