Try out the complete variant of the alternative Windows installer:
http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyXWinInstaller

To install LyX open an Internet connection before starting the installer. The installation can take 
up to 15 minutes because also all LaTeX-packages supported by LyX will be installed and this might 
need some time.
