Just a thought: Have you tried creating a buffer with distance 0? I haven't tried it myself, because whenever I've had troubles with CurvePolygons I've been using the Maestro SDK, which fails before you have a chance to create a buffer.
If the data is stored in a database, you might be able to create a view that generates regular polygons.
