Yes, an interesting and generally accurate summary of Deutscher's trilogy, which I have recently been rereading. A minor criticism: Where he departs from Deutscher, e.g. via Chris Harman, Dickman goes astray, as in overlooking both the necessity and the positive results of the NEP or in avoiding any discussion of the evolution of Trotsky's thinking on the class nature of the USSR, on which Dickman replicates Harman's claim that a "new class" was in control of the country by the late 1920s (not Deutscher's, or Trotsky's, view). On the latter, Trotsky's "Revolution Betrayed" is a useful introduction.
