DAVID LIPSON: So just to be clear, is there any doubt in your mind whatsoever that this was, indeed, an attack by Assad's armed forces, a chemical attack, on civilians?
MARTIN CHULOV: Well, this part of northern Syria in particular is one of the most monitored air spaces in the world. You have the Turkish military, the Russian military, the Americans, all having very extensive ground radar tracking capabilities. On the day of the strike, which was the 4th of April, there was a Syrian plane above the town of Khan Shaykhun. Now, that was plotted in real-time, and those flight paths have been released, and they've also been prepared by the Brits, by the Turks as well.
Not only that, at that precise time there was an air spotter on the hill who called in an air raid siren. He took video of a plane approaching and dropping bombs. And further to that, we have extensive eyewitness testimony from people who say that aeroplanes attacked them at precisely that time and from medics who say that within ten minutes the hospital was overrun with people suffering severe respiratory distress.
