Russia vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding
that Bashar al-Assad’s government cooperate with an investigation into
the deadly toxic gas attack in northern Syria that the U.S. and allies
blame on the regime.
Ten nations on the 15-member Security Council voted Wednesday in favor
of the resolution condemning the attack. Bolivia joined Russia in voting
against the resolution. China, Kazakhstan and Ethiopia abstained.
