Ossoff’s campaign shows the Democrats’ strategy under Trump: oppose racism and authoritarianism by largely defending the status quo and without putting forth a meaningful alternative. Ossoff ran on an emphatic “No!” to Trump while his platform stayed middle-of-the-road. He declared opposition to raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires and declined to support healthcare as a right for all Americans. While he supported LGBTQ and reproductive rights advocates, the lengthiest sections of his platform were reserved for US-Israel relations and national security.
