Dear list,

This is a reminder that today, January 27, 2001 is the centenary of
Verdi's passing. There will be lots of celebrations this year for the
great master who influenced and almost eclipsed all his contemporaries
(the San Francisco opera for example will present La Traviata, Aida and
Simon Boccanegra in June). I celebrate today with a Trovatore (Price,
Domingo and consorts on RCA). I hope you enjoy a similar treat :-)
