Dear list, There is an interesting interview (in Italian) of Denia Mazzola on her web site: http://www.deniamazzola.com/ita/news2.htm She talks among other things about her first encounters with Gavazzeni. She also talks about Parisina. "Dai, Gianandrea, facciamola" dico. "Eh sė, ti starebbe proprio bene" dice lui. Translated by me: I ran to the piano room of the maestro and asked him how this Parisina was: "Realize - he said - that this is one of the operas that I absolutely love most. And my father loved it so much that he went to all the performances. It's fantastic: look here". And he goes to the piano and plays the first act - he was a marvellous pianist - leaving me completely subjugated by this music. "Come, Gianandrea, let's do it" I said. "Yes, it would suit you pretty well" he said. This lead to the performances of act IV in 1995. After Gavazzeni's passing, Denia Mazzola performed the first three acts in Montpellier in a performance that was later released on CD. She says that it would be nice to do the opera entirely as the composer intended. Enjoy, -Erik -- Unsubscribe by sending unsubscribe in the body to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
