Dear list, A series of news: Cesare Orselli has found several works that where thought to be lost: First, the early cantata "In filanda", later used by Mascagni to elaborate "Pinotta". There is hope to see it performed and recorded by Bongiovanni during the next season of the CEL of Livorno. Second, the "Pater Noster" written during the years of Livorno, for voice and string quartet. The version for voice and piano (published by Lucca, Milano) will be included in the first album of songs published by the Centro Studi Mascagnani, ed. Boccaccini & Spada (the same editor that published the works for piano). Third, the "Serenata" of Mascagni, written in 1883 the the Livorno review "L'ondina". Also: Tenor Fausto Tenzi and pianist Roberto Negri have published on label Audiophile a large antology of the operas of Mascagni. The duo has already released an album, "Leoncavallo: 19 Arie Inedite", available on label Nuova Era. And last but not least: The next season of the Rome Opera will open with "Amica" (instead of "Isabeau") in its French version, co-produced by the Opera of Montecarlo, and conducted by Giancarlo Gelmetti. As many people have already pointed out, there is some absolutely amazing music in Amica, and a performance in French should not be missed! I am even thinking about travelling to Rome :-) I will communicate the dates as soon as I know them. As usual, this information has been added to the News section: http://www.mascagni.org/news/ Regards, -Erik -- Unsubscribe by sending unsubscribe in the body to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
