Dear list, I just received today, from Amazon, Alan Mallach's book, "Pietro Mascagni and His Operas". I obviously haven't had time to read it yet, but it is a very nice-looking hardcover book with a superb cover picture of Mascagni looking over a score, that I had never seen before. The book is essentially a biography, the first serious one written in English to my knowledge, if one excepts David Stivender's "autobiography". It also features a selective discography and a bibliography. This means that it oes not competes with fellow list member Roger Flury's remarkably extensive book, which focuses on works, performances, bibliography and especially discography. I will keep you posted once I have read it. -Erik -- Unsubscribe by sending unsubscribe in the body to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
